How to Download Instagram Videos
Instagram has no built-in download button for videos, but saving them is simple with the right tool. This step-by-step guide shows you exactly how to download any public Instagram video to your device for free.
Step 1: Copy the video link
Open Instagram (app or web) and go to the video you want. Tap the three-dot menu (⋯) above the post, or the paper-plane share icon, and choose Copy Link. The link is now on your clipboard.
Step 2: Paste the link into DownloadVideoIG
Come back to this page and paste the link into the box at the top. You can use the Paste button to insert it automatically on most phones, then tap Download.
Step 3: Download and save
The tool fetches the video and shows a preview with a green download button. Tap it to save the Instagram video to your gallery, Files app or Downloads folder in HD.
Tips for best results
Make sure the account is public — private posts cannot be downloaded. If a link does not work, open the post in a browser first and copy the full URL from the address bar. For reels and stories, use our dedicated Reels and Story tools.
Downloading from the Instagram website
If you are on a computer, you can copy the link straight from your browser’s address bar while viewing the post on instagram.com — no app required. Paste that URL here and the process is identical: preview, then download in HD.
Common problems and quick fixes
If a link will not resolve, the account is usually private, or the URL was cut short. Open the post directly, copy the full link again, and make sure it contains /p/, /reel/ or /tv/. Public posts almost always download on the first try.
