Download Instagram Videos on Mac
Mac users can save Instagram videos with nothing more than Safari or Chrome. This guide walks through downloading any public Instagram video to your Mac in full quality.
Grab the link
Open Instagram in Safari or the app, go to the video, click the three-dot menu and choose Copy Link. You can also copy the URL directly from the browser address bar.
Paste into DownloadVideoIG
On this page, click the box and press Cmd+V to paste the link, then click Download. The video loads with a preview and a download button.
Save to your Mac
Click download and the MP4 lands in your Downloads folder. Open it in QuickTime, or import it into iMovie or Final Cut for editing.
Tips for Mac
Safari sometimes opens the video in a new tab instead of downloading — if that happens, right-click the video and choose Download Video, or use Chrome for a one-click save.
Editing on Mac after download
Downloaded MP4s open directly in QuickTime and import cleanly into iMovie or Final Cut Pro. Because you start from the HD source, your edits stay sharp all the way to export.
Safari download settings
If downloads are not appearing, check Safari → Settings → General and confirm the file download location. Safari also lets you view recent downloads from the download icon near the address bar.
